What We Do
Discovery Training & Development – a proud subsidiary of Discovery Diagnostics – is dedicated to preparing the next generation of laboratory professionals and entrepreneurs. Our program equips middle and high school students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to launch a career in diagnostics or open their own independent laboratory.
We provide comprehensive training on business structure, credit building, diagnostic services, and strategic marketing for lab owners. Whether a student prefers one-on-one mentoring or group sessions, we offer flexible options both online and in-person, tailored to their learning style.
How It Works
Once students complete four weeks of training (four classes), they can progress to our mentoring stage:
- Students under 15 can participate in personal mentoring, shadowing one of our collectors to see first-hand what we do and the positive impact we make in our community. They’ll have the opportunity to ask as many questions as they’d like.
- High school students 16 and older may be offered an internship, providing valuable hands-on experience in a real lab setting.
Training Schedule Options:
- One day per week online (Saturdays)
- One day per week in person (Sundays)
- Weekday sessions available at the trainer’s discretion, based on business hours and availability.
Our Mission
Our inspiration to create this program came from the growing interest among young people—and their parents—in the diagnostics field. Having navigated this journey with limited resources, our founder spent nearly two years researching and gathering essential information before opening her own lab. Now, we aim to shorten that learning curve for others, giving students the tools and insider knowledge they need to make informed career decisions, avoid costly mistakes, and start strong.
